The business responsible
AKS Textiles operates the AKS Textiles travel desk and is responsible for the personal information described below. Write to contact@akstextiles.com with any question about this page.
Recorded to arrange a flight
A booking cannot be made out of thin air. These are the fields it needs:
- Traveler identity. Full name as the ID reads, date of birth, and gender where an airline or the Transportation Security Administration's Secure Flight program requires it. A Known Traveler or Redress Number if you give one. Passport details for travel outside the United States.
- A way to reach you. An email address, a telephone number if you offer one, and a postal address where a document has to be mailed.
- The trip. Routes, dates, confirmation codes, seat and meal requests, and the correspondence between us.
- Assistance needs. Mobility or medical requirements, recorded only when you tell us, and only so the request can be passed to the airline.
- Payment facts. The amount, the date and whether it cleared. Card numbers are keyed into a payment provider's own secure page and are never written into our records.
- Site activity. Browser, device, IP address and the pages opened, described further in the Cookie Policy.
The purposes it serves
Each field above exists for one of these jobs:
- pricing, booking, changing or canceling the trips you ask about;
- giving airlines and suppliers what they need to issue and operate the ticket, including data airlines are obliged to send to government agencies;
- telling you where a request stands, and passing on a schedule change;
- collecting a payment and returning a refund;
- keeping the tax, accounting and legal records the law obliges us to keep; and
- defending this website against abuse.
A marketing email goes only to someone who asked for one. It names us and carries a working unsubscribe link, as the CAN-SPAM Act requires. Unsubscribing stops marketing and nothing else: messages about a live booking keep coming.
Who else sees it
Information leaves this desk only where the trip cannot proceed without it:
- The airline, to issue and operate your ticket.
- Reservation systems and suppliers, which search, hold and ticket seats and handle booking data on our instruction.
- The payment provider, to take a payment or send a refund.
- Technology vendors that host this site, our mail and our files, under confidentiality terms.
- A government agency, where the law obliges disclosure.
Personal information is not sold. Analytics and advertising tools load only with your consent; see the Cookie Policy. Once an airline or supplier holds your details, its own privacy policy governs what it does with them.
Travel outside the United States
On an international itinerary, airlines are required to send passenger data to border and security authorities along the route. Some of our vendors hold data in another state, or outside the country. In each case only what the booking requires is passed on, and only where the law permits it.
How long records are held
A booking, payment or inquiry record is held while the trip is live, while a refund or complaint is open, and afterward for as long as tax, accounting and legal rules require. Then it is deleted or stripped of anything that identifies you.
Keeping it safe
A booking record is open only to the staff working on it, and this site runs over encrypted connections. Do not send a card number, a security code or a password by email, text or chat: no agent here asks for one that way. If you think a booking record of yours has been exposed, write to contact@akstextiles.com the same day.
The rights you hold
Depending on your state of residence, and in particular under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, you may be entitled to know what personal information is collected and how it is used and shared, to receive a copy, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, and to opt out of its sale or of sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising. Exercising any of these changes neither the service you receive nor the price you pay.
Make the request on the Data Rights Request page, or in writing to contact@akstextiles.com. Optional cookies can be switched off at any time on the Cookie Preferences page.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13, and consistent with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act we do not knowingly collect personal information from them directly. Where a child travels on a booking, a parent or guardian supplies the child's details. If you believe a child has sent us information unaccompanied, write to contact@akstextiles.com and it will be deleted.
