The charge
Our service fee is charged per passenger and is shown on its own line in your quote, before you pay.
This is what the desk earns for assembling a booking and looking after it. It is held apart from the airline fare, the taxes and the government charges, which are set by the airline and the authorities and passed straight through.
Inside the total, on its own line
U.S. Department of Transportation rules oblige a ticket agent to include every mandatory tax and fee, its own service fee among them, in the price it shows. So the total is complete as quoted. The quote then breaks that total out, so what goes to the airline and what comes to this desk are two separate figures. You see both before paying, and the amount collected is the amount approved.
The work it covers
- Finding and comparing the flights that fit your dates.
- Reading the fare conditions and the baggage charges, and writing them down.
- Preparing the quote and placing the booking.
- Getting the confirmation, ticket number and itinerary to you.
- Answering questions about the trip up to departure.
Later requests
A change, a cancellation, a name correction, a seat or an upgrade is fresh work, and a charge may apply to each. Where it does, it appears on the quote for that request, on a line of its own, apart from anything the airline charges. You decide with both figures in view.
Whether it comes back
Your quote states, before you pay, whether any part of our charge is returned if you cancel or if the airline cancels. A refund that federal rules require is never reduced by our charge.
Tax on the charge
Where sales tax or any other tax applies to our charge, it is collected as the law requires and shown on the receipt.
