Refund and Cancellation Policy

Who ended the trip decides the outcome. Cancel inside the federal 24-hour window and the ticket comes back clean; after that the fare rules govern.

The bookings this covers

This page is about tickets bought through the AKS Textiles travel desk. A ticket from an airline's own website, or from a different agency, is canceled and refunded by whoever sold it.

The 24-hour federal window

On a reservation made at least seven days before departure, U.S. Department of Transportation rules require the airline either to hold the fare without payment for 24 hours or to allow cancellation within 24 hours of booking without penalty. An agent tells you which of the two applies and whether your ticket is still inside the window, and files the cancellation the same day you ask.

When you cancel after that

Every ticket carries fare rules written by the airline. Those rules settle whether a canceled ticket pays out in money, in travel credit, or in nothing beyond certain taxes, and what the airline keeps. We cannot rewrite them and cannot return more than the airline releases.

When the airline ends the flight

If an airline cancels your flight, or makes a significant change to it, and you do not accept the alternative offered, federal rules generally entitle you to a refund to your original form of payment, covering the unflown part of the ticket. Where the federal rules require a refund, you get the refund. Forward the airline's notice as soon as it arrives and an agent files the claim for a ticket bought here.

Asking this desk to cancel

Send the booking reference, who is canceling and which flights are affected. An agent reads the fare rules and replies with an estimate: what should come back, what the airline keeps, and any charge of ours. The cancellation is submitted once you approve it in writing. In most cases a canceled ticket cannot be brought back, so the estimate is worth reading twice.

What can be deducted

  • An airline cancellation charge, where the fare rules permit one and the cancellation is yours.
  • Any part of the fare the airline treats as non-refundable.
  • Our charge for handling the cancellation, where it applies and where your quote shows it.

Whether any part of the original booking charge comes back is stated on your quote before you pay. An amount that federal rules require to be refunded is not reduced by any of the above.

Missing a flight without canceling

A traveler who does not appear and has not canceled is recorded as a no-show. On many fares that forfeits everything except certain taxes, and the airline may also cancel the later flights on the same ticket.

How the money comes back

A refund returns to the card or account that paid. The pace depends on the airline and the card networks, so the expected timing is given when the claim is filed, then confirmed when the airline processes it.

If the figure looks wrong

Send the booking reference and say what you expected. An agent will walk through the arithmetic line by line and, where the question belongs with the airline, put it back to the airline. The Complaints Handling Policy is the next step if that does not settle it.
